Meet Habib Zaki, a master barber who exudes a passion for precision, artistry and a good sense of humor. Habib’s journey as a barber began in the vibrant city of Casablanca, Morocco, where he was surrounded by the energy and excitement of soccer and fun. However, it was his father’s uncle, also named Habib, who ignited his passion for the craft and guided him as he honed his skills and learned the trade.
In 1990, Habib received his diploma in Casablanca, which equipped him with the knowledge and techniques to not only provide exceptional cuts, but also ensure public safety and sanitation. He spent 7 years in Morocco, gaining a wealth of experience and memories while cutting hair for all types of people, sometimes even feeling like a psychiatrist or social helper.
In 1997, Habib embarked on a journey to the USA, where he settled in the DMV area. Though he had found a new home, his heart remained in the craft of barbering. Upon his arrival to the USA, Habib began working as a barber in 2000, starting at Diego Hair Salon in DuPont Circle for 4 years. It was here where he honed his skills and gained a reputation as a skilled barber. He then moved to Arlington, VA to work with his best friend Faraj, where the barbershop was like a community and a big family, and Habib spent 4 years there. He later joined Pete’s barbershop, in Arlington, VA, where he spent more time learning from an old-fashioned master barber with a big pride of Greece, gaining knowledge about the history of words and philosophy.
Eventually, Habib was approached by his friend Willy to open a barbershop in Clarendon, VA, and in February 2017, he decided to take the opportunity. Habib’s barbershop is a place where everyone feels welcome and at home, a sanctuary for men to come and relax, get a great haircut, and leave feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. Habib and his team strive to make their customers look and feel good, while also having fun and sharing stories and jokes. They pride themselves on providing a service that is not just a haircut but an experience, one that leaves you feeling pampered and confident. Habib’s barbershop is a reflection of his passion, precision and artistry, where he and his team are dedicated to spreading the love and joy through their craft. Habib Zaki – A master barber with over 22 years of experience. He trained in Casablanca under some of the most renowned barbers before working in DuPont circle at Diego’s Hair Salon for over 4 years where many well-known names called themselves his clients.
He moved to Arlington to work at Pete’s Barber Shop where he saw the true meaning of a “family style” barbershop, before taking those teachings and opening his own space. Habib understands that by being a barber he is not just cutting hair but is creating the basis of a lifestyle. He seeks to understand the uniqueness of each of his clients to properly emulate their style through his detail-oriented and perfectionist manner.
